About The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo
The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo was opened in the year 1989 by Joey Ward. What seemed to be a small community zoo later became a big tourist center for people worldwide. The zoo was founded as a Zooland Animal Park before being renamed the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo in 2000. In the early years of the zoo, it operated as a non-profit organization supported by donations of people. Now, it’s known to be the number-one zoo in Alabama!
Animal enthusiasts founded the zoo with the vision of providing a fantastic experience to every visitor that comes to the zoo, the zoo houses more than 600 animals, and the environment is serene, with reasonable accommodations available for lodging.
The zoo is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. On holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving, the zoo is officially closed for business, and then business resumes.
The zoo welcomes group tours, and for students who want to gain academic knowledge, groups coming for tours must make a 48-hour reservation before their arrival time.

The Zoo Animals

Some of the major exhibits in the zoo are the petting zoo, which houses goats, cows, sheep, and more. The reptile section contains snakes, lizards, and the American alligator. Additionally, the American Black bear, black leopard, Katrina Primates numbering up to 50, spiders, and squirrel monkeys.

You would be required to pay a one-time zoo admission fee, weather permitting.
Zoo exploration is $24.95 for a single person, children from ages 3- 12 are $14.95, and free admission is for children under three years. If you want to explore the Giraffe section, opening hours are between 10 a.m to 11 a.m; and 2 p.m to 3 p.m pay rate for a single person Is $5.
